Open Habitat was exploratory in its approach with a project team had a mix of artists, teachers, elearning experts, technologists and researchers.
As the project progressed it became clear that we were producing what has been described as ‘shiny nuggets’ of reflection, thinking and experience. In September 2008 we decided that rather than try to create a tense composite of these finding in a single report it would be more effective to produce a magazine style output. This was for a number of reasons:
- Magazines can be ‘containers for diversity’
- Magazines are inherently visual and image heavy which suited the subject of MUVEs
- Magazines have a relatively conversational style and can communicate the character of a particular moment in time.
The Open Habitat magazine is a collection of images, articles and guidance much of which has been reproduced as sections of this website. We like to image it resides somewhere between a well written blog-post and a journal paper.
